Blood Angels Legions Imperialis Armoured Company

Now, I'm making great strides with the Blood Angels! This past week, I managed to finish the armoured company for Legions Imperialis.

I painted the six Predators in two groups of three to be able to play them as two separate detachements. One of them has the black turrets, while the others stand out with a gold panel at the front of the tank. They should still work as single detachment as well.

I really like how the Omega plasma array came out! Having the green set against red of the Blood Angels just works really nicely. Again, I painted them in two slightly different schemes by varying the black panels.

Legions Imperialis Blood Angels Sabre Strike Tanks

The Sabres were all painted the same and are numbered one through eight as a single group. I really like their small frame compared to the other tanks! Whilst painting I found myself thinking that they are perfectly snack sized... Really fun units and I'm looking forward to using them in a game! I can see myself getting another box of them and building them with the Autocannons.

Legions Imperialis Blood Angels Storm Eagles

Lastly for the finished miniatures, I also painted another two Storm Eagles as part of this batch of Blood Angels armour. They will, however, be part of my Aerial Assault formation, giving me the ability to bring more than the bare minimum of Tactical squads.

Also: With these twenty miniatures painted, I not only smashed my goal of painting 100 miniatures this year in total. I also surpassed last year's tally and I'm fastly approaching 2022's tally!

Next up for Legions Imperialis will be all the miniatures I'm still missing for the upcoming event. That's a squad of four bases of Terminators, two more bases of Tactical Marines and four Tarantulas as well as the Forward Operating bases and, if I find the time, six normal objective markers made from the innards of Palisade Drop Pods.

And lastly here is what I want to paint to field a narrative Blood Angels list themed around Dominion Zephon and the High Host – the latter being a formation of Destroyers. Hence, I hope to finish a squad of Assault Destroyers, some Angel's Tears and another Moritat. The Laser Destroyer Rapiers should replace the somewhat egregious full squad of Lascannon Heavy Support Marines, but they are the lowest priority right now.

Tactical Blood Angels Reinforcements

These past two weeks I made some good headway with my Blood Angels, finishing my Tactical Marines and some Heavy Support Marines and making some good progress on the Legions Imperialis Armoured Company.

First up, I finished up the ten Blood Angels Tacticals to bulk out the unit I painted right at the start of Heresy 2.0. I also put the finishing touches on the Iliastus Assault Cannon Squad and the printed Commander. I imagine the latter to be in charge of the back lines – the commanding pose seems fitting for that task.

One small detour lead me to paint this Blazing Worm for my Rados Cults. Once again, a really fun miniature from Alkemy! The contorted pose made it a bit difficult to paint the underbelly, but I'm really happy with the outcome. It really was good fun to look at pictures of frilled lizards to get some inspiration for the colours!

The Legions Imperials Armoured Company is also coming along nicely. Most of the details are done on all of the miniatures. Whats missing is glazing up the red armour and then doing a few scratches. A few Predators already have this and are only missing the weathering pigments on the tracks!

Legions Imperialis Blood Angels Forward Operating Bases (WIP)

Lastly, the Legions event at Warhammer World will require two additional objectives in the form of Forward Operating Bases. These are on 40mm bases instead of the usual 32mm used in LI. In my mind, they are great opportunities to make some very small  dioramas! I built one as a somewhat improvised and mobile command centre and the other as a squad of Recon Marines stunbling upon a trap rigged with explosives. Converting such small miniatures was quite the challenge, but really fun as well!
